In 2014 initial research was carried out to assess the potential impact of rats on Alderney’s seabird colonies. The research confirmed presence of rats at 2 mainland and one islet site, although no species were confirmed on the Ramsar site of Burhou. Further research to identify which species of small mammal are present on Burhou is needed.
